MXI Environmental Services began the 2015 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Season last Saturday on March 7th, 2015 at the Bergen County Utility Authority in Moonachie New Jersey. The area we typically operate in was under construction, remnants of the snow storm from two days ago surrounded us, and the temperature to begin the day was 12 degrees but the event went great! The positive morale and excitement for the season warmed everyone up.
We collected 33,000 lb of hazardous waste materials that came for the homes of Bergen County. Everyone walks away very happy at the idea of that material being out of homes and destined to be disposed of in the proper manner.
“The job went great. We were worried the weather might keep everyone away but I’m very happy with the turnout. The job went smooth and the MXI crew was great as always,” said Rich Baroch, the Household Hazardous Waste Events Coordinator for the Bergen County Utilities Authority.
MXI is a leading hazardous waste disposal company in the US. The company holds one-day household hazardous waste collection events for communities, counties, and municipalities around the country.
The residents load the waste into the truck of their car, pull up in their vehicle, and drop off materials in a drive-thru fashion without a surcharge in order to provide residents with a proper way to dispose of hazardous materials. 35 employees of MXI collected, packaged, and loaded the waste materials onto two 53’ ft trailers.
“This was a great way to start the year. Even though it was freezing out our crew was in great spirits and we got a good turnout. That means we go a lot of hazardous waste out of the homes of the citizens. I’m looking forward to a great HHW season in 2015,” said Marc Kodrowski, the Project Manager and Director of Household Hazardous Waste Collections for MXI.
